Market Place Square

Market Place Square

The market place square was a feature of many colonial American towns. They still exist today in many European cities and towns. It is a large open space where local vendors set up market stalls for trading, commonly on one particular day of the week known as market day.

The typical market square consists of a square or rectangular area, but sometimes just a widening of the main street. It is usually located in the center of the town, often surrounded by major buildings such as the parish church, town hall, important shops and hotels, and the post office, together with smaller shops and businesses. Larger towns may have a permanent covered market building, and the entire area is a traditional meeting place for local people as well as a center for trade.

In this electronic age, most of us seldom venture into our central cities. Our goal is to create an online market place where we can buy, sell, trade, barter and find jobs or hire people.
